Oh dear me! I just happened to be checking out the site, as I frequently do to lust over the amazing selection they have in their "at Home" section, and found myself instead watching lovely, well dressed ladies walking down a street.
Titled, Shortcuts, the opening is a lovely street with brownstones, then a couple of girls walk by down the sidewalk, followed by another girl pushing her bike along. Placed over this sequence, which continuously loops, are tabs treated like street sign that let you navigate it further:
Bookstore, flower shop, bike ride, cafe and bakery.
Each one, offers a different outfit on a girl, and like the title suggests, in a different location. It gives you the feel of being able to live in the clothing. To make it work in your lifestyle. That is if you live in a town where you can ride your bike to the bookstore, and stop on the way at the bakery. Then on your way home stop in at the cafe before you buy some flowers from the flower shop. I know I do!
I had to wipe the drool from my chin. Clothing you can buy online, presented in a way where you can imagine your life transformed? To make you feel, I have a charming life! A stylish life! I feel anew!
Then you can "See The look", and "shop the style". All in one experience. You never have to leave your well worn chair. Until, that is, your new clothing shows up at the door, delivered by the nice UPS man.
I immediately had to close the browser and walk away. As lovely as it all is, I'm tapped out. This whole "let's get ready for the fall/winter wardrobe" has wrung me dry. But for a minute... just a minute... I imagined me in a very Amélie world.
Thankfully, this weekend is the Ladies of Brooklyn Clothing Swap. I'm so excited about it. It's amazing what you'll find, and it's always unexpected. I hope to convinse every one to let me document the occation so I can post it on Monday.
But in the meantime, go check out the Anthropologie site!
