LadyWarfield

Life has been strange and unpredictable, to say the least, and it’s derailed everyone on what we thought to be our “life plan.” However, some of these changes have been rewarding. For example… I finally finished my book!

Hi, I’m LadyWarfield. I split my time between New York and Richmond with my husband and our cats, Kali & Z. I’m a Milliner… a hat maker. I studied in Hamburg and London (One of my buyers was Madonna - although to be fair, I did not meet her, but she did wear it on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine!) I’m an audiobook narrator, with two currently published under my name (Suzanne Warfield). I’m in the process of editing the audiobook for my book, Pocket of Pain, which should be released this fall.

As mentioned above, I finished writing my first novel, A memoir. A coming-of-age narrative that takes place in a world of 80s popular culture, music, and fashion about my experience struggling to find stability and happiness during the volatile breakdown of my parents’ marriage and more! Believe it or not, besides the darker theme, it’s fun, a fast read (for some), and has a love story that helps propel the young protagonist out of her former world.

I struggled with the idea of making this fiction or keeping it in the memoir category. My writing style is within the arc of fiction, so it could have been written either way. And let’s face it, the publishing industry turns their nose up to Memoirs written by NON-CELEBRITIES. A real missed opportunity in my opinion.

When it comes to Narration... My love of reading aloud started when I read the full Lord of the Rings trilogy to my husband every night (before they even started making the movies) and later when I read to my twin sons when they were young. When I read books, I try to make the characters come alive as though the story is playing out before one’s eyes. Of course, it’s not that easy. Narrators need to know how to act. It’s not just reading aloud. So I’ve taken time off to study acting to improve my voice.

My favorite thing to do when I’m not making hats, writing, reading, or doing art… is to do puzzles, walk on the beach (if there is one near me), hiking with friends, talk to my friends, play the piano, lounge with my husband on the couch and watch one of our favorite shows: Barry, Tokyo Vice, Severance, The Great… just to name a few. Have you seen the English and Andor? My two new favorites! (UPDATE: Add the last season of Fargo please. Jon Ham is to die for)

Oh! And I love making reels, mixing music, and having fun on Instagram, playing with filters, not to gloss it up, but to punk it up or add that 70s glow. Up until recently, I literally kept my followers below 100! Oops. Not very helpful for marketing my upcoming novel.

I’m currently working on my next group of stories.
